Thought I'd wheel out this classic short for the weekend...
Dion Agius is a very hirsute man. He is a funny bugger and also rips. This is he in typical ubercool Globe style with his entry for the X-Games Real Surf vid contest.
Tom Lowe, a big winter of paddling in Ireland all set to Ben Howard. A double awesome little fillum.
John John Florence with some rad surfing, bodacious park skating and a belting soundtrack. Standard.
Ever wondered where you need to be to get those cray Pipe hook ups? Wonder no more. This epic edit from Nick Pollet has a beaut example of the deep, scary, slighty mad position you need to sit to get those bonkers shots. Kelly's first wave has a clinical example of the technique at around the 30 second mark. Can't be sure but I think it's Russo front and Damea Dorsey back in the sweet spot.
In John John's wave at around 1:40 you can see what happens when the wrong kind of Pipe wave comes through. You're getting it on the head. This is pure balls water photography. Shooting Pipe from the channel with a longer lens is an interesting enough experience... Fisheye at any size is just nuts.

It's been a bit of a crazy week for surf videos. Total overload. Not enough time in the day to check them all out. Of course the ideal place to watch them is when on the commute but that smashes your data allowance like a mofo and can lead to you crashing the car. Anyhoose here's the best of the bunch...

Love this. RED Epic footage from Kirra shot at 2k @ 240fps...
Shot by onepalmMEDIA.com on Thursday 15th & 16th March using our Red Epic shot 2K @ 240fps with custom Dave Kelly housing ( seaviewphoto@bigpond.com.au ) using 5.7mm Kinoptik and 40mm Zeiss Distagon Mk2 lenses. The day after the 2013 Quiksilver Pro finished, Kirra turned on in a way that it hadn't done so for the last 10 - 15 years. Clear skies, clear water and a nice groundswell courtesy of Tropical Cyclone Sandra pulsing endless lines into the once fabled Gold Coast point break of the 70s, 80s and 90s.

Vimeo and YouTube are different beasts. The former is clean, easy to use and search friendly. The latter is a bit of a mare but way more popular. Searching for surf vids on YouTube is a bit of a mission. Once I waded through a plethora of 'surfer rides tsunami!' and other weirdness (generally filmed from Riding Giants) this is the most sensible top 10 I could find (with most of the classics).
The No1 when you search for Surfing is of course Family Guy. I love Family Guy so I let it slide... The No2 by Bali Strickland is still one of THE best watershots ever...
The numbers below are the view counts. Compare and contrast to the Top 10 on Vimeo...
